Possible Causes of Nutrient Deficiency Symptoms in Corn

Observations in the field may indiciate a nutrient deficiency in corn. Several causes, including weather, soil conditions, and nutrient availability may contribute to deficiency symptoms. Deficiences can occur due to processes within the plant, problems with root uptake, or an actual soil deficiency. Additional fertilizer applications this season show not take place until a combination of tissue and soil tests can help answer why the deficiency has occured.
